Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey is the new head football coach at Valor Christian High School, athletic director Jamie Heiner announced Monday.

"Ed has been a part of the Valor community for nine years, and now we're honored to call him Coach McCaffrey," Heiner said in a statement.

The McCaffreys have been big players in the Eagles' success over the last decade. Max, Christian, Dylan and Luke were all part of a run of seven state championships for the school that started in 2009.

"Today, I no longer play the game, but I continue to live a life filled with faith, family and football," McCaffrey added. "I believe coaching football is the best way for me to serve God. "
