Class 3A Football Playoffs
Durango 49, Canon City 21
At Canon City: The Tigers were the first to score, thanks to a 14-yard touchdown by Kadin Porter, but that lead didn't last long against a determined Durango team. The No. 13 Demons went on to score 35 unanswered points to get an upset win over No. 4 Canon City in the first round and improve to 8-3.
Durango, which led 35-7 at halftime, finished the game with three interceptions.
Canon City scored twice in the second half, when the game was out of reach. The Tigers wrapped up the season with a 9-2 record.
Palisade 27, Discovery Canyon 7
At Palisade: The Thunder made it interesting late in the first half. Jonah Isakson's 1-yard touchdown march concluded a long drive and tied the game at 7-7. But the No. 6 Bulldogs were hard to stop at home with three straight touchdowns after that, eventually beating No. 11 Discovery Canyon in the playoff opener.
Palisade advanced to the quarterfinals with a 9-2 record, while the Thunder finished the season 6-5. Discovery Canyon managed to make it to the playoffs despite losing 23 seniors from last season's state runner-up team.
Class 5A Football Playoffs
Eaglecrest 35, Fountain-Fort Carson 14
At Eaglecrest: The No. 15 Trojans, who made the playoffs with a 4-6 record and the state's second-hardest schedule, simply couldn't overcome an 21-0 lead by No. 2 Eaglecrest in the playoff opener.
With less than a minute left in the first half, Trojans quarterback Eric Donnell completed a short touchdown pass to Gabe Elliott after an 80-yard drive. They scored again with about 8 minutes left in the fourth to cut the lead to 28-14, but the Raptors responded with another touchdown to put the game away.
