Friday's prep roundup: Air Academy routs Durango in girls' lacrosse

Air Academy 20, Durango 0

At D-20 Stadium: The Kadets (1-0) scored 16 goals in the first half and added four in the second to give first-year coach Kali Maxwell a big win in her first game Friday.

Ten players scored for Air Academy. Jessica Cox, Reagan Brenenstuhl and Anna Sawyer each scored three goals for the Kadets, while Natalie Sannes, Kennedy Jamieson, Whitney Moran and Anna Cloonan all scored two.

Pine Creek 17, Battle Mountain 4

At Battle Mountain: The Eagles (1-0) opened the season by dominating Battle Mountain (0-1) after scoring 11 goals in the first half.

Brittney White led the Eagles with five goals, Riley Hatchell had four and Katie Hatchell scored three. Hatchell also led the team with three assists.

Cheyenne Mountain 14, Rocky Mountain 9

At Rocky Mountain: The Indians (1-0) opened the season with a win after beating the Lobos (0-1) on their home field.


Thunder Ridge 11, Pine Creek 10, OT

At Pine Creek: The Grizzlies (1-0) avenged last season's loss to the Eagles (0-1) by winning a close one and handing the Eagles a loss in the season opener for both teams.

St. Mary's 5, Bishop Machebeuf 4

At St. Mary's: The Pirates (1-0) and Buffaloes (0-1) were tied at four apiece at the end of three quarters, but St. Mary's scored one final goal to earn the season-opening win.


Sand Creek 10, Widefield 0

At Sand Creek: Sand Creek's 10-point onslaught included two hat tricks, one by Jaden Davis and the other by Miranda Schwartz as the Scorpions (1-0) blanked Widefield (0-1) in the season opener.

Lutheran 4, Coronado 1

At Lutheran: The Cougars (0-1) and the Lions (1-0) were tied at one at halftime, but Lutheran scored three goals in the second half to hand Coronado a loss in the season opener. Alex Brown scored Coronado's lone goal.

Air Academy 5, Montrose 0

At Air Academy: The host Kadets (1-0) opened the tournament and their season with a win by blanking Montrose (0-1). Air Academy scored three goals in the first half to put this one away quickly.

Colorado Academy 1, Discovery Canyon 0

At Colorado Academy: Neither team scored in regulation, but the Mustangs (1-0) finally ended it with a goal in the second half of overtime, and the Thunder (0-1) fell in the opening game.

Palmer Ridge 4, Pueblo West 0

At Pueblo West: The Bears (1-0) scored three times in the first half and added another in the second for good measure to earn a win in their season opener over the Cyclones (0-1).

Four players scored for the Bears: Abi Barhydt, Jordan Gouner, Jordan Taft and Ali Tobey. Gouner, Emily Nguyen and Layla Denisen all had assists.

Heritage 3, Rampart 2 OT

At Air Academy: Sophomore Kaitlyn Wilcox scored both goals for Rampart, but it wasn't enough as the Rams (0-1) lost their season opener at the tournament at Air Academy. Arianna Colella had an assist on one of Wilcox's goals.


Grand Junction 5, Rampart 3

At Grand Junction: The Rams scored twice in the fifth inning and the game was tied at three heading into the sixth, but the Tigers (2-0) scored twice in the sixth and the Rams (0-2) couldn't answer. The Tigers finished with four errors to Rampart's one, but had nine hits while the Rams finished with three.

Sean Moeller and Kevin Witcher each had an RBI for Rampart.

Steamboat Springs 16, Harrison 3, 4 innings

At Harrison: The Sailors scored 10 runs in the second inning and the Panthers could never recover in their season-opening loss. The game ended after four innings due to the 10-run rule. The Panthers had four errors.
