FIRST TEAM

G: Josephine Howery, so., St. Mary’s The 5-foot-9 sophomore led the Class 3A state champions in scoring with 13.9 points per game in addition to averaging 4.8 rebounds, four assists, three steals and 1.3 blocks while seeing her playing time limited by frequent blowouts. She had a season-high 25 points on Dec. 5 against Lutheran and narrowly missed a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists against The Vanguard School on Jan. 27.  

G: Hope Davies, jr., Cripple Creek-Victor – Davies led the state in scoring as a junior, posting 23.9 points per game for the Pioneers. She reached double-digit scoring in every game, with a season-high 41 points coming in a narrow loss to Edison on Dec. 8. She went over 30 points on four other occasions, as Cripple Creek-Victor finished the year 10-9.

F: Megan Engesser, jr., Colorado Springs Christian – The Lions rode Engesser’s 21.4 points per game - seventh in the state - to another state championship game appearance where she led all scorers with 21 points. In addition to her scoring, the CSCS junior averaged 6.4 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 2.9 assists. She had five 30-point games, including a 39-point, 10-rebound game against Vanguard on Jan. 17.

F: Maren Mildestvedt, sr., Manitou Springs – Mildestvedt made her one year of American basketball count, leading the Mustangs back to the 3A state tournament with 16.6 points per game. She added 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per outing, while shooting 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep. She made 14 of 19 shots against Vanguard for a season-high 32 points. She also had a 25-point, 13-rebound game against Florence.

C: Makenna Bodette, sr., St. Mary’s – The senior came up big when the Pirates needed her most, leading St. Mary’s with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the state championship win over CSCS. She added 24 points and 14 rebounds in the quarterfinals before a 24-point, 10-rebound outing in the semifinals. Bodette finished the year with averages of 13.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. She scored at least 20 points six times.
