Girls' Basketball

Colorado Springs Christian at St. Mary's 7 p.m. Friday

Well someone has to lose. St. Mary's hosts Colorado Springs Christian in what could, and likely will, decide who wins the strong 3A Tri-Peaks league. The match could also lend some insight into the playoffs. The Lions are the runners-up from last year's state tournament and the Pirates made it to the quarterfinals. Both teams have a conference record of 9-0 and St. Mary's boasts a 15-0 overall record this season to CSCS' 15-2. What's more? This is a rivalry game. The Lions are led by junior Megan Engesser who is averaging 21.6 points and her fellow classmate Rachel Ingram who is scoring 15.2 per contest. Sophomore Jospehine Howery is averaging a team-leading 14.3 for the Pirates, followed by senior Makenna Bodette (10.8) and sophomore Seneca Hackley (10.7).

Girls' Swimming and Diving

It's the state meet beginning Thursday. The meet for 3A and 4A teams, which includes Colorado High School Activities Association-ranked Manitou Springs out of 3A and Rampart and Cheyenne Mountain out of 4A, will be held at the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center in Thornton. While the 5A meet, which includeS ranked Lewis-Palmer, will be held at the Edora Pool Ice Center in Fort Collins.

Wrestling

Regionals is the name of the game this week. Sadly there aren't any area schools hosting regions this weekend. 4A powerhouses Mesa Ridge and Discovery Canyon will be wrestling in Golden as part of Region 4. Pueblo County is hosting 4A Region 1 which includes Air Academy, Falcon, Liberty and Palmer Ridge among other area teams. Pueblo Central is hosting 3A area teams James Irwin, Manitou Springs, TCA, Woodland Park and CSCS.

Boys' Basketball

The Classical Academy at Widefield 7 p.m. Tuesday

The second-to-last game of the regular season for The Classical Academy and Widefield could decide who wins the 4A Colorado Springs Metro League. The Titans and Gladiators are tied with 10 wins in the conference. Mesa Ridge has 10 as well. Widefield has the advantage with just two losses compared to three for TCA and Mesa Ridge. Both Widefield and TCA face two opponents before facing off Tuesday. Widefield took on Mitchell Wednesday and will be at Harrison Friday. The Titans face Sierra Friday and travel to Discovery Canyon Saturday. Seniors Tre Pierre, T.J. Davis and Randall Days lead the Gladiators in scoring: Pierre 19.6, Davis 15.1 and Days 10.6. The Titans are led by senior Jared Belcher at 17.

Ice Hockey

Palmer at Doherty 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Doherty may be searching for its first win when it hosts rival Palmer at The Broadmoor World Arena Saturday. The Terrors have just one victory on the season. Doherty has allowed 107 goals this season compared to 32 scored while Palmer has scored 26 and allowed 124. Palmer won last year's bout 6-4.
