Liberty High School announced Monday afternoon that Erick Gossage has accepted the position as new head coach for the Liberty Lancer football program.

Gossage spent the last two seasons as the offensive and defensive line coach under the direction of coach Marc Sites. The head coaching position opened after the 2017 season.

Prior to joining Liberty, Gossage served on high school coaching staffs at Sand Creek, Palmer, Coronado and Wasson, and was an assistant coach at Ft. Lewis College, where he played football in the early 1990s.

Liberty assistant principal and athletic director Michael Sibley said in a release that a formal meet and greet with Gossage will be scheduled at a later date.

Last year Liberty finished 2-8, and accumulated a 15-35 record through the last five seasons. The Lancer football program has not appeared in the state playoffs since 2009.
