At Cheyenne Mountain: Ashten Prechtel led the Thunder with 22 points on the way to a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference win. She completed the double-double with 16 rebounds. Discovery Canyon is now 9-6 and 3-4 in league play, while Cheyenne Mountain falls to 4-10 and 2-4 in the conference.
Air Academy 52, Falcon 40
At Falcon: Idalias Samson led the Falcons with 14 points but it was not enough to overcome Air Academy in a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference game.
Falcon led the Kadets by three heading into the second half, but Air Academy outscored the Falcons 28-13 in the final two frames.
Falcon 81, Air Academy 58
At Air Academy: Falcon put up 45 points in the first half of a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference win over Air Academy.
Falcon is now 10-4 and 3-2 in league play, while the Kadets fall to 8-7 and 2-4.
Cheyenne Mountain 49, Discovery Canyon 38
At Cheyenne Mountain: Cheyenne Mountain, (8-7, 2-4) ended a two-game skid with a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference win. With the loss Discovery Canyon falls to 8-7 and 3-4 in league play.
The Indians were led by sophomores Jaedin Harrison (19 points) and Javonte Johnson (15 points). Johnson capped off a double-double with 12 rebounds.
Liberty 3, Pine Creek 3, OT
At Sertich: An extra period of hockey was not enough to decide an outcome between Liberty and Pine Creek.
Early in the third period Mikey Wilson gave Liberty a 3-2 lead, but Trevor Porter of Pine Creek netted the equalizer 10 minutes later.
Porter finished the game with two goals, as did Liberty’s Wilson. Cameron Gillis scored a short handed goal for the Eagles (6-6-2) in the first period. Jaison Copeland put the Lancers (3-10-1) on the board four minutes into the second.
Air Academy 8, Palmer 0
At Sertich: Air Academy blanked Palmer, outshooting the Terrors 41-13 in a nonconference game.
Dalton Giesbrecht and Gavin Gray had five points each for Air Academy. Giesbrecht scored a hat trick and added two assists, while Gray scored twice and had three helpers. Joey Polaski had two goals and an assist while Gavin Garrett Johnson rounded out Kadet’s scoring.
Sean Bolduc had 26 saves for the Terrors.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING AND DIVING
Manitou Springs 109, St. Mary’s 56
At St. Mary’s: Caitlin Cairns won two individual events for the Pirates, but it was not enough to overcome the Mustangs.
Cairns won the 200 IM (2:16.84) and the 500 (5:36.07) freestyle for St. Mary’s, while Manitou Springs’ Sydney Doloff-Holt won the 100 (0:59.64) and 200 (2:09.53) free.
