At Lewis-Palmer: Mattie Kuntzelman, the reigning 4A state champion at No. 2 singles, won in her No. 1 singles debut, and all four of Discovery Canyon's doubles teams recorded victories as well as the Thunder downed Lewis-Palmer in the season-opening dual for both teams.
Kuntzelman, a sophomore, scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Emma Gaydos, a state quarterfinalist at No. 1 singles a season ago.
Joee Crocker and Austynn Crocker had wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, for Lewis-Palmer.
Sand Creek 7, Mitchell 0
At Sand Creek: Kaitlyn Fark, Isabella Aragon and Autumn Winford had straight-sets singles victories to pace Sand Creek, whose team lost a combined 12 games in the seven-match sweep.
Pine Creek 10, Valor Christian 8
At Highlands Ranch: Riley Hatchell scored three times, and three teammates added two goals to help Pine Creek (2-0) stay undefeated.
Kate Hatchell, Ashley Starkey and Brittney White had two goals each for the Eagles, while Madeleine Bourgois also scored and goalkeeper Devin Morgan recorded nine saves.
Pine Creek took a 4-2 lead into the second half.
Grandview 8, Cheyenne Mountain 7
At Cheyenne Mountain: Mallory Hybl scored four goals and Jolie Gilbreth added three, but Cheyenne Mountain (2-1) couldn't rally from a one-goal halftime deficit.
Grandview (1-1) led 4-3 at halftime.
Green Mountain 14, St. Mary's 2
At Trailblazer Stadium: Green Mountain (2-0) shut out St. Mary's (1-1) through the first three quarters and cruised to a nonleague win.
Pueblo Central 3, Sand Creek 1
At Sand Creek: Brady Sides pitched admirably, allowing only two earned runs and scattering seven hits in a complete-game effort, but Sand Creek (0-2) couldn't muster enough offense after an early lead.
Issiah Hernandez gave the Scorpions a 1-0 lead with an RBI in the first inning.
The Wildcats tied the game in the second, took the lead with a run in the third and added an insurance run in the seventh.
Quinton Clark had two hits for Sand Creek.
Palmer 6, Pueblo East 0
At Dutch Clark: Freshman Maia Wiegand-Brown scored four times - making six on the season - and Cora Bayless added a goal and an assist to lead Palmer (1-0-1).
Lina Rettig added a goal for the Terrors, while Mandy Nein and Jami Meyer also chalked up assists.
Florence 7, Ellicott 0
