GIRLS’ GOLF

At Four Mile Ranch Golf Club: TCA claimed its first team title in school history, and Ashlee Sample of Palmer Ridge earned top individual honors to highlight action at the Canon City Lady Tigers Invitational.

Sample shot a 5-over-par 77 for the day’s only round under 80. Cheyenne Mountain’s Maxine Choi was runner-up with an 86.

Kenzie Fontana (87), Fionna O’Halloran (89) and Anna Connell (95) all finished in the top 10 to pace TCA, which outdistanced Palmer Ridge and Cheyenne Mountain by 19 shots.

Palmer Ridge claimed second on a tiebreaker.

 

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Liberty 16, Pueblo West 6

At D20 Stadium: Camille Callahan outscored Pueblo West by herself and doubled her season output, scoring seven goals and adding an assist to power Liberty to a nonleague victory.

Callahan entered the game with seven goals on the season for the Lancers (2-3), who led 7-3 at halftime.

Olivia McCrary added three goals for Liberty, while Abby Ross and Taylor Rahalewich had two apiece.

Grandview 13, Air Academy 9

At Greenwood Village: Grandview (6-1) won its fourth straight, pulling away from Air Academy (4-3) thanks to a 7-3 advantage in the second half.

Golden 16, Palmer 5

At Garry Berry Stadium: Aspen Reed scored three goals for Palmer (0-6), which fell behind 8-2 early and couldn’t keep up with high-powered Golden (4-4).

Megan Barney and Domi Semadeni also scored for the Terrors.

 

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Discovery Canyon 5, Woodland Park 0

At D20 Stadium: Sydney Kowalchuk scored twice, and Maddie Underwood added a goal and an assist to help Discovery Canyon (4-3) snap a two-game losing streak.

Kowalchuk opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, taking a pass from Underwood at the top of the box. Just five minutes before halftime, Underwood pounced on a deflected shot in front to make it a 2-0 game.

Kowalchuk added a penalty kick in the second half, and Eliana Garcia and Mikhaila Elrod also scored for the Thunder, which had suffered consecutive shutouts to Evergreen and TCA.

Woodland Park fell to 2-4-1.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Lewis-Palmer 11, Pine Creek 3

At Don Breese Stadium: Lewis-Palmer (2-4) snapped a three-game losing streak, breaking open a tight game with a 5-1 run in the second quarter to pull away from Pine Creek (2-5).

The Rangers led 2-1 heading into second quarter but extended the advantage to 7-2 by halftime.

Thompson Valley 13, Cheyenne Mountain 12

At Loveland: In a game featuring two of the state’s 4A powers, Thompson Valley (7-0) stayed undefeated by holding off Cheyenne Mountain (6-2), dealing the Indians their first in-state loss.

Cheyenne Mountain’s only other loss came at San Marcos (Calif.) on March 26.

 

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Widefield 7, St. Mary’s 0

At Memorial Park: Victoria Bowen rallied from a first-set loss to outlast Gabriella Coronado, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to highlight Widefield’s sweep of St. Mary’s.

Madison Villers and Faith Bower also chalked up straight-set victories for the Gladiators.
