No. 1: Nick Lorenz, Discovery Canyon, jr. — Lorenz was undefeated before he lost in the Class 5A semifinals to Kent Denver senior Jack Moldenhauer, the eventual state runner-up. He has reached the state semifinals three times.

No. 2: Luke Miller, Pine Creek, jr. — Miller finished 15-1 and completed regular season undefeated at 12-0 to help Pine Creek to a second-place tie in the Colorado Springs Metro League.

No. 3: Christian Ridings, Cheyenne Mountain, sr. — Ridings dropped from No. 1 singles last season and had the most impressive singles showing for the Indians at this year’s Class 4A state tournament after he advanced to the semifinals, but fell to eventual state champion Sam Nassif of Kent Denver.


No. 1: Drew Connaughton, sr./Danny Geisz, sr, Cheyenne Mountain — Connaughton and Geisz finished the regular season 12-2 and advanced to the Class 4A state tournament. After a quarterfinal loss, the pair battled to the third-place match before eventually settling for fourth place after a loss to Valor Christian.

No. 2: Michael Dashiell, sr./Grant Leap, jr, Cheyenne Mountain — The duo erased the sting of a first-round exit in the 2016 state tournament with a third-place finish in this year's 4A state tourney. Dashiell and Leap suffered a heartbreaking 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss in the semifinals to Colorado Academy before bouncing back in the playback matches.

No. 3: Robbie Metz, fr./Max Schultz, jr, Cheyenne Mountain — The duo was one of three Cheyenne Mountain doubles teams that advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A state tournament. But after a semifinal loss, Metz and Schultz battled back to reach the third-place match against Thompson Valley, which they won in two sets. They were 11-3 in the regular season.

No. 4: Carver Ward, fr./Bennett Ziegler, fr., Cheyenne Mountain — The duo finished the regular season 10-4 before they went on a tear in their first Class 4A state tournament. Ziegler and Ward battled Colorado Academy in the semifinals, eventually losing 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. But they played tough in the third-place match and beat Niwot’s Peter Lee and Jongwon Lee 7-6, 6-2.
