1. Doherty (7) 18-1 1

2. Pine Creek (9) 12-6 2

3. Liberty (27) 12-8 3

2. CSCS (8) 15-2 2

3. (tie) ECA (13) 11-3 3

(tie) Ellicott (12) 9-3 NR

Breakdown: Someone's long winning streak will end Tuesday when Doherty (10 games) travels north to play Denver East (nine games). Thanks to weather-related postponements earlier this season, Pine Creek will play three games in as many nights this week, the last coming Thursday at home against District 20 rival Liberty, a squad that already has won more games (12) than in any season in the past decade. . Air Academy moves into the top spot in 4A after increasing its winning streak to 16 games. The Kadets have a two-game lead over the rest of the pack in the 5A/4A Pikes Peak Athletic Conference. TCA stopped the nine-game winning streak of last week's No. 1, Mesa Ridge, on Jan. 30 and has won nine of 12 league games. On Friday, the Titans play host to Sierra (13-6, 10-2), a squad they've not beaten in five meetings. Each game has been decided by single digits. . Earlier this season, CSCS stopped an 11-game losing streak to longtime rival Manitou Springs. On Friday, the Lions host another rival in St. Mary's, a team that has won the past five in the series. . Ellicott is 4-0 in the 2A Black Forest League, tied at the top with Simla (12-2, 5-0). The Thunderhawks better not overlook Saturday's game against Calhan, which recently fell out of the area top three. The Bulldogs are 3-2 in league play, dropping those two games by a combined three points.

ICE HOCKEY

Team (RPI) Record Last week

1. Cheyenne Mtn (18) 10-6-1 1

2. Lewis-Palmer (16) 4-9 2

3. Liberty (21) 8-6-1 3

Breakdown: Cheyenne Mountain dropped a pair of games last week and has the week off before concluding regular-season play next week against Rampart and Lewis-Palmer. Speaking of Lewis-Palmer, the Rangers might be 4-9 but hold the area's highest Ratings Percentage Index figure at 16 thanks to one of the toughest schedules around. It won't get any easier this week with league games on the road against Ralston Valley and Mountain Vista. Liberty is 3-0-1 in its past four and hosts Chatfield on Wednesday and Air Academy on Friday before an encounter with league-leading Fort Collins on Saturday.
