Cheyenne Mountain 2, Valor Christian 0

At Cheyenne Mountain: Will Thompson made eight saves as Cheyenne Mountain (1-0) beat Valor Christian (0-1) in its home opener.

Evan McConnell and Chase McCleary scored for the Indians.

The Indians outshot the Eagles 10-9.

Palmer Ridge 2, Palmer 1, OT

At Don Breese Stadium: Freshman Matt Sega scored the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute as Palmer Ridge (1-0) beat Palmer (0-1).

Sophomore Zach Pribyl also scored his first career goal and senior keeper Nathan Kugler stopped five shots for the Bears.

The Bears are 4-0 against the Terrors since 2014.

Pine Creek 0, George Washington 0, OT

At George Washington: Pine Creek (0-0-1) and George Washington (0-0-1) played to a scoreless draw.

The Eagles did not play to a draw last season.

SOFTBALL

Rampart 14, Doherty 4, 5 innings

At Doherty: Freshman Jayda Randle drove in three runs as Rampart (2-0, 2-0 5A CSML) beat Doherty (0-3, 0-2).

Kate Frederick doubled and tripled, and Katherine Masesie added a triple and two RBIs for the Rams.

Shelby Shepherd (2-0) allowed four runs - two earned - in five innings. She also drove in two runs.

Doherty has allowed 49 runs in its first three games.

Mesa Ridge 15, Coronado 7

At Coronado: Arianda Martinez had four hits and drove in two runs in her freshman debut, Emily Berry added four RBIs, and Mesa Ridge (1-0) beat Coronado (0-3).

Brylee Doyle and Katrina Robertson had two RBIs for the Grizzlies, who had seven doubles as a team. Freshman Isabella Quintana added three hits.

Kylee Bunnell (1-0) allowed seven runs on 15 hits over seven innings. She struck out five and walked three.

Fountain-Fort Carson 16, Palmer 3, 5 innings

At UCCS: Emily Howling homered and doubled as Fountain-Fort Carson (2-0, 2-0 5A CSML) beat Palmer (0-2, 0-2).

Marian Vigil added three hits for the Trojans, who have scored 31 runs in their first two games.

Alyssa Steele (2-0) allowed one run in three innings.

Rocky Ford 9, St. Mary's 4

At Rocky Ford: Cassidy Sorensen tripled and drove in three runs, but St. Mary's lost its third straight game.

Peyton Richter (0-3) allowed nine runs - six earned - in six innings. She struck out one and walked four.

The Pirates scored four runs in the third to take a 4-3 lead.

Pueblo West 23, Cañon City 1, 4 innings

At Canon City: Ashton Atencio had two of her team's three hits and drove in its lone run as Cañon City lost to Pueblo West.

Three pitchers combined to give up 23 runs - 14 earned - on 17 hits for the Tigers.

Smoky Hill 11, Falcon 1

At Smoky Hill: Falcon (0-2) scored its first run of the season but lost its second straight.

Yasmine Ybarra homered for the Buffaloes.

VOLLEYBALL

Pueblo Central 3, Harrison 1

At Harrison: Brittany Tate had nine kills, nine digs and three aces for Harrison (0-1), which lost to Pueblo Central (1-0) 21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 27-25.

Kaylene Richardson added five kills and four aces for the Panthers.
