GIRLS' SOCCER

Sand Creek 9, Palmer 1

At Sand Creek: Jaden Davis scored school-record six times as Sand Creek (3-0) played with only 10 players in its win over Palmer (1-1-1).

Davis, just a sophomore, has scored 11 goals in three games for the Scorpions, who have outscored the opposition 22-3 this season.

"She's no joke," Sand Creek coach Jeremy Tafoya said. "She's the real deal."

Amanda Garrett added a goal and five assists and Miranda Schwartz had two goals and an assist for the Scorpions. Maria Molerio earned the win in net after playing just a half.

Maia Wiegand-Brown scored the lone goal for the Terrors.

Harrison 2, Fountain-Fort Carson 1

At Fountain-Fort Carson: Kimmy Villalobos and Delayna Escobedo each scored as Harrison (2-0) beat Fountain-Fort Carson (0-2).

The Panthers already surpassed their win total of last season (1-13-1).

Mullen 2, Air Academy 1

At Air Academy: Abi Sekutera scored as Air Academy (3-2) lost to Mullen (2-0).

Katlyn Blacksten stopped eight shots for the Kadets.

Pueblo East 4, Widefield 1

At Widefield: Mya Sopher scored her team’s second goal of the season as Widefield (1-2) lost to Pueblo East (3-1).

Kayla Jaramillo stopped three shots in net for the Gladiators.

BASEBALL

Lewis-Palmer 14, The Classical Academy 4

At Lewis-Palmer: Jason Shuger homered twice and drove in six runs, leading Lewis-Palmer (3-1) past TCA (0-4).

Billy Cook and Colton Stegman also homered for the Rangers, who are 3-1 so far in their nonconference schedule. They went 2-3 to begin last season.

"I think it's huge for us," L-P coach Brett Lester said. "Now we go down to La Junta and hope to get a victory there, too."

The Titans lost their fourth straight game after falling 4-3 against Pueblo South in eight innings.

Mitchell 6, Sierra 5

At Mitchell: Conner Lentovich had four hits and drove in the game-winning run in the seventh inning as Mitchell (2-2) beat Sierra (1-4).

Antonio Atencio allowed four runs (two earned) in four innings to get the win. He also two hits and an RBI.

Xavier Brown drove in three runs for the Stallions, while Adrian Montes added two RBIs.

Peyton 18, Evangelical Christian Academy 8

At Peyton: Caleb Yutzy drove in five runs and Josh Gonzales added three RBIs and homered as Peyton (2-0, 2-0 2A District 8) beat ECA (1-2, 0-2) for the second time this week.

Rupert Shaw, Zach Keifer and Jaeden Meyers each drove in two runs for the Panthers, who beat the Eagles 21-6 on Tuesday.

Cade Hammarquist drove in two runs for ECA.

Green Mountain 9, Mesa Ridge 8, 8 innings

At Green Mountain: Green Mountain (1-0) scored in the eighth inning to walk off against Mesa Ridge (1-3).

Deven Jensen drove in two runs and Dalton Bishop homered for the Grizzlies, who continued their early trend of tight losses. They lost to Pueblo County 7-5 to open the season and fell to Pueblo Centennial 7-6 on Tuesday.

Brandon Meadows took the loss after giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.

The Rams scored a run in the seventh and another in the eighth to rally for the win.

Pueblo East 10, Widefield 7

At Widefield: Ronan Witte, Dylan Marks and Isaiah Grima all homered for Widefield (0-4) in its loss to Pueblo East (2-1).

Bryce Lieby tossed in three hits for his first multi-hit game of the season.

The Gladiators rallied for six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to climb within 9-7, but couldn’t get any closer.

Efren Perez drove in four runs for the Eagles.

Pueblo County 11, Palmer Ridge 7

At Pueblo County: Two days after Palmer Ridge beat 2016 4A runner-up Pueblo West, the Bears (2-1) fell to Pueblo County (2-2).

Sam Britton and Beau Stamper each drove in a pair of runs for Palmer Ridge, which trailed 7-0 after the second inning.

The Bears cut the lead to 9-7 after a three-run fifth.

Calhan 11, Ellicott 1

At Calhan: Michael Mikita had three hits and drove in three runs as Calhan (2-0, 2-0 2A District 8)  beat Ellicott (0-3, 0-2).

Eddie Glaser and Tyler Campbell each had two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Brandon Merriam had two hits for the Thunderhawks.

GIRLS' TENNIS

La Junta 6, St. Mary's 1

At La Junta: St. Mary's senior Alyssa Dunbaugh defeated Ana Mathewes 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles.

La Junta won the other six matches in straight sets.

CSCS 4, Salida 3

At CSCS: The Lions swept singles play with wins from Tristen VanDeVeer (No. 1), Cynthia Morin (No. 2) and Nicole Pei (No. 3)

VanDeVeer and Pei won in straight sets, while Morin took the victory in a third-set tiebreaker.
