Tuesday's prep roundup: Mesa Ridge locks up 4A CSML girls' basketball crown

Mesa Ridge 54, Cañon City 51

At Mesa Ridge: Behind 23 points and 16 rebounds from sophomore Ashley Bowen, Pikes Peak region 4A No. 1 Mesa Ridge (18-4, 14-1 4A Colorado Springs Metro League) secured the league crown with a win Tuesday over Cañon City (10-13, 8-8).

Bowen's double-double was aided by Chloe Welch's 14 points, five rebounds and six assists, and Britanie Olsen's 11 points.

Mesa Ridge was No. 9 in the RPI standings before the game. Cañon City was No. 40. The top 48 teams in 4A qualify for the postseason.

Liberty 32, Coronado 23

At Liberty: Pikes Peak region 5A No. 3 Liberty (13-10, 7-5 5A CSML) did enough to hold off Coronado (3-19, 0-11). The Lancers scored just one point in the first quarter and seven in the second, yet led 8-7 at the half.

Liberty were the No. 29 RPI team. Coronado was No. 58. The Lancers topped Coronado 15-3 in the third.

Pine Creek 65, Fountain-Fort Carson 44

At Fountain-Fort Carson: Pikes Peak region 5A No. 2 Pine Creek (16-6, 9-2 5A CSML) had a tight game against Fountain-Fort Carson (5-17, 2-9) until the fourth quarter.

Spencer Lindsey scored a game-high 18 points and Gabi O'Connor added 16 to lead the Eagles. Courtney Stanton scored 12. Pine Creek led by two points heading to the final period. Lahaina Bell scored 10 to lead the Trojans.

TCA 56, Widefield 40

At Widefield: Pikes Peak region 4A No. 3 The Classical Academy (12-3, 17-5 4A CSML) used a 16-6 second quarter to build a 12-point halftime lead over Widefield (11-11, 8-7) and held on the rest of the way. Raegan Bervig scored a game-high 16 points and McClain Walker added 13 points to lead the Titans, No. 21 in RPI. The Gladiators entered No. 45.

CSCS 70, Florence 21

At Florence: Pikes Peak region 3A and below No. 1 Colorado Springs Christian School (17-2, 11-1 3A Tri-Peaks League) ended its regular season over Florence (10-9, 5-6).

St. Mary's 80, Alamosa 40

At St. Mary's: Pikes Peak region 3A and below No. 2 St. Mary's (17-1), No. 4 in RPI, doubled up on Alamosa (8-11), No. 29 in RPI.

Mitchell 41, Harrison 38

At Harrison : Mitchell (1-21, 1-14 4A CSML) notched its first win of the season by edging Harrison (2-19, 2-12).

Elizabeth 62, Woodland Park 24

At Elizabeth: Elizabeth (12-10, 9-6 4A CSML) defeated Woodland Park (6-16, 2-13).



Rampart 90, Palmer 67

At Palmer: Behind 30 points from Jackson Ehrlin and 25 from Cal Zeb Roberson, Pikes Peak region 5A No. 3 Rampart (16-6, 8-3 5A CSML) breezed past Palmer (6-16, 2-9).

Rampart scored at least 22 points in three quarters, including opening with 27 points. Mike Ballard led the Terrors with 17 points.

Rampart was ranked 13th in the RPI, while Palmer was 49th.

Manitou Springs 75, James Irwin 53

At James Irwin: Lucas Rodholm scored a game-high 28 points and three others added 13 to lead Pikes Peak region 3A and below No. 2 Manitou Springs (18-1, 10-1 3A Tri-Peaks League) past James Irwin (6-12, 4-6). Manitou Springs jumped to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter and extended that to 50-28 by halftime.

Cole Sienknecht, Davyn Adamscheck and Jared Keul each scored 13 for the Mustangs.

The game was the regular-season finale for the Mustangs, who entered the day as the No. 1 team in RPI. James Irwin is No. 49 and has one more game remaining.

Fountain-Fort Carson 66, Pine Creek 58

At Pine Creek: Fountain-Fort Carson (9-13, 5-6 5A CSML) beat Pine Creek (10-12, 4-7) to climb into fourth place in the conference standings.

The Trojans were No. 43 in the RPI rankings. Pine Creek was 37th.

Liberty 55, Coronado 39

At Coronado: Three players scored in double digits to help lead Liberty (12-11, 7-5 5A CSML) past Coronado (5-17, 2-9). The Lancers got a game-high 13 points from Sean Bohuslavsky, 12 from Jeremiah Pruitt and 11 from Matthew Kirk. Jaydon Lewis scored 12 points for Coronado.

Doherty 67, Legend 53

At Doherty: Pikes Peak region 5A No. 1 Doherty (19-3), ranked No. 5 in the RPI, ran its winning streak to 13 games by beating Legend (12-9) in nonconference play.

Emmanuel Burleson had a team-high 14 points and Brevin Brimble 12.

The Spartans held Legend to nine points in the first and second quarters, while putting up 40.

Elizabeth 73, Woodland Park 42

At Woodland Park: Elizabeth (10-12, 6-9 4A CSML) beat Woodland Park (6-17, 1-15).



Dakota Ridge 4, Lewis-Palmer 1

At Edge Ice Arena: Pikes Peak region No. 2 Lewis-Palmer (6-11, 3-10 Foothills League) gave up three goals in the third period to fall to Dakota Ridge (10-6-1, 6-5-1).

Joey Duca scored 40 seconds into the second period to give the Rangers the lead. L-P goalie Noah Vanderbeck made 39 saves.

Castle View 15, Palmer 1

At Monument Ice Rinks: Castle View (15-3-1, 11-3 Highlands Conference) scored four times in the first period before Palmer (3-12, 3-9) got on the board. Kyle Moore scored for Palmer.
