It looks like a stat line for the pros.
Four touchdowns. No interceptions and 390 yards passing.
Palmer Ridge quarterback Ty Evans continued his spectacular season Thursday, leading the Bears to a decisive 49-28 win over the Discovery Canyon at District 20 Stadium.
A long completion from Evans set up a rush from sophomore back Anthony Roberson II for the Bears’ first score.
The Thunder marched down the field to respond but ultimately ended up with no points after Palmer Ridge (4-0) blocked a field goal try.
Another long pass from Evans set up a second rushing touchdown, this one by sophomore back Raef Ruel.
Evans threw three touchdowns in the second quarter, including a screen that Roberson broke for a long touchdown.
But the Thunder and coach Shawn Mitchell did not let up.
“We talked about regrouping and letting go of the first half,” Mitchell said.
His team did just that, scoring on a 60-yard run from sophomore fullback Marshall Pike to begin the second half.
A quick defensive stop and a botched snap on the ensuing punt had the Thunder back in the red zone. Junior quarterback Zachary Anderson capitalized, rushing it himself for the score.
Just when Discovery Canyon (2-2) had turned into lightning, scoring rapidly on two back-to-back possessions, the Bears answered by driving down the field and scoring on another Evans’ touchdown pass.
