Wednesday's prep roundup: Air Academy girls' basketball extends winning streak to 18

Calhan 60, Simla 46

At Simla: Calhan scored 28 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 2A District 8 win over Simla and remain undefeated in the conference.

Lewis-Palmer 69, Air Academy 33

At Lewis-Palmer: The Rangers limited Air Academy to 14 points in the first half, all the while racking up 40 points themselves in the first 16 minutes of a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference game.

Joshua Biddle led the Kadets (9-13, 3-10) with 10 points, while Joel Scott led Lewis-Palmer (20-2, 12-1) with 18, followed by Matthew Ragsdale (13 points) and Ethan Forrester (11 points).

Falcon 69, Cheyenne Mountain 47

At Falcon: Cheyenne Mountain outscored Falcon 20-8 in the first quarter, but the Falcons got back into it, outscoring the Indians 49-15 in the second half of a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference game.  

Falcon is second in league standings at 17-5 and 10-3 in league play. Cheyenne Mountain falls to 9-13 and 4-9 in the conference.

Vista Ridge 38, Discovery Canyon 35

At Vista Ridge: Micah Hilts led the Wolves to a narrow victory over Discovery Canyon, putting up 23 points in a 5A/4A Pikes Peak victory.

Vista Ridge (14-9, 9-5) held off a Thunder comeback in the second half as Discovery Canyon (10-13, 5-9) outscored the Wolves 23-19.

Falcon 61, Cheyenne Mountain 40

At Cheyenne Mountain: Cheyenne Mountain’s Selena Vargas scored 10 points, followed by three nine-point performances by Katelynn Ralston, Rylie Cottrell and Vanessa Vargas, but it was not enough to overcome Falcon in a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference matchup.

Falcon and Cheyenne Mountain are tied in league standings at 5-8, but Falcon is 9-13 overall, as the Indians fall to 7-14.

Air Academy 49, Lewis-Palmer 42

At Air Academy: Air Academy kept its winning streak intact with a narrow win over Lewis-Palmer in a 5A/4A Pikes Peak conference clash. The Kadets trailed by two heading into the fourth quarter but outscored the Rangers 20-12 to lock in the win.

Air Academy has won 18 straight.

Mary Parchinski led Air Academy with 12 points, followed by Liza Louthan with 11.
