No. 5 Fountain Valley 8, No. 12 Heritage Christian 1
At Fountain Valley: The Danes (11-5) led 5-0 at halftime as Fountain Valley cruised to the first round victory over Heritage Christian (7-8)
Prolific scorer McKenna Monk accounted for all five of those first-half goals, and added two assists later in the game.
Senior Megan Masters finished with two goals and two assists, while junior Ani Love recorded a goal and an assist.
Junior goalkeeper Ava Rahm recorded three saves in the win for Fountain Valley.
The win for the Danes sets up a quarterfinal matchup on Friday with No. 4 ECA, which received a bye in the first round.
Fountain Valley won the first matchup between the conference foes 5-3 on May 4 at Fountain Valley. ECA will host Friday's contest.
4A State Playoffs
No. 8 Mullen 3, No. 25 Palmer Ridge 1
At Mullen: The Bears (7-9) hung tough with Mullen (11-5), keeping the score tied at one at the end of the first half, but two second-half goals from the Mustangs proved fatal.
Sophomore Kaylah Wanna recorded two goals and sophomore Jaya Trujillo finished with a goal and an assist to lead Mullen to the win. The Mustangs will play Durango in the second round.
No. 9 Durango 6, No. 24 Canon City 0
At Durango: Canon City (11-4-1) didn't have many answers as Durango (12-4) advanced to the second round.
Five Durango players scored.
No. 3 Lewis-Palmer 9, No. 30 Elizabeth 1
At Lewis-Palmer: The Rangers (14-2) exploded for six goals in the first half to advance to the second round over Elizabeth (10-5-1).
Lewis-Palmer faces No. 19 Littleton on Saturday.
No. 5 The Classical Academy 4, No. 28 Green Mountain 0
At TCA: The Titans (14-1) scored two goals in the final few minutes of the first half to create a 3-0 halftime lead on the way to beating Green Mountain (6-10).
The Titans' only loss so far this season came at the hands of No. 1 seed Valor Christian.
Senior Hannah Burgo and junior Alison Smith handled the scoring with two goals each for the Titans. Smith added an assist.
TCA faces No. 12 Air Academy in the second round.
No. 12 Air Academy 2, No. 21 Skyline 1
At Air Academy: A goal in each half was enough for Air Academy (11-5) to dispatch a tough Skyline (10-6) team.
Junior Mary Parchinski and sophomore Baylee Barnes each scored a goal, while sophomore Liza Louthan added an assist for the Kadets as Air Academy advanced to the second round.
No. 7 Evergreen 4, No. 26 Discovery Canyon 0
At Evergreen: Two goals in each half proved to be the difference as Discovery Canyon (8-7-1) couldn't get on the board and fell to Evergreen (10-6).
No. 16 Cheyenne Mountain 12, No. 17 Chatfield 6
At Cheyenne Mountain: The Indians (11-5) doubled up the Chargers (8-8) to get the win and move on to round two.
Cheyenne Mountain scored nine goals in the first half, and held Chatfield to three in each frame.
Senior Jolie Gilbreth and junior Mallory Hybl both scored three goals to lead the Cheyenne Mountain offense in the win.
Senior Skylar Powell and junior Sydnee Pinell combined to make five saves. Junior Madelyn Lewis won seven of the 12 draws she faced.
The reward for the Indians' victory is a date with No. 1 seed Colorado Academy in the second round.
