Wednesday's prep roundup: Pine Creek, Canon City baseball continue hot start to the season

Pine Creek 7, St. John Busco 3

At Arizona: Pine Creek scored four runs in the top of the first inning to help them to a smooth tournament win over St. John Busco.

Justin Olson hit a home run in his third straight game and batted in three runs for the Eagles.

Olson also got the win on the mound, striking out three batters through four innings pitched.

Zac Heisler hit a two-run single and Parker Gergory and Kyle Moran also batted in runs for Pine Creek.

The Eagles are 5-1 this season and 2-1 at the Pride Classic.

Canon City 5, Pueblo Central 3

At Pueblo Central: Canon City scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning and held the Wildcats off in the bottom of the seventh to lock in a nonconference win.

Shane Coffey, Kadin Porter and Andrew Lapp each had an RBI for Canon city.

Lincoln Andrews struck out six batters through four innings, and Zac Hanenberg got the win on the mound pitching three innings.  

The Tigers are 4-1.

Golden 14, Widefield 3

At Widefield: Elijah Clark hit one out of the park and batted in three runs for the Gladiators, but it was not enough to overcome the hot bats of the Golden Demons.

With the nonconference loss Widefield falls to 4-5.
