No. 3 Legend 73, No. 19 Doherty 41

At Legend: Doherty was never within 15 points in the second half, as Legend played the part of 6A contender that is has all season.

The only loss for Legend (outside a forfeit) came on the road against No. 1 Cherokee Trail on Jan. 8. Since then the Titans have reeled off 13 consecutive wins, all by at least 15 points.

Doherty (12-13) rebounded from a 3-8 start to earn a playoff berth, then knocked off Rocky Mountain on Tuesday in the first round.

No. 4 Northfield 66, No. 13 Lewis-Palmer 41

At Northfield: Lewis-Palmer stayed close early, trailing 19-18 after one quarter. It wasn’t until Northfield (22-3) outscored the Rangers 16-7 in the third quarter that the game got out of hand.

The Rangers (17-8) won 17 games for the first time since 2017-18, and their run to the 5A Sweet 16 came after going 7-16 a year ago.

No. 3 Riverdale Ridge 49, No. 14 TCA 44

At Riverdale Ridge: The Classical Academy (19-6) led 30-26 early in the third quarter before suddenly finding itself trailing 40-30. The comeback charge twice brought the Titans back within five points of Riverdale Ridge (22-3), but no closer.

The model of consistency, the Titans have won at least 16 games in 12 of the past 16 full seasons and had entered Friday on a six-game winning streak.
